Origin: A recent interiors trend combining Nordic simplicity with the handmade feel of boho.
Scandi-boho blends two styles with different temperaments: the bright walls, pale timber and clean lines of Scandinavia, plus the woven pieces, textiles, macramé and plants of boho. The result stays airy and easy to breathe in, yet warmer and more personal than pure Scandinavian. The key is restraint, a few points of pattern rather than pattern across the whole room.
In humid coastal regions the style suits apartments and townhouses because it can be done with local materials: rattan, bamboo, sedge, jointed timber and rough cotton. Pick rugs and fabrics that wash easily because humid spells cause mould, and add shade-loving plants such as snake plant and pothos for fresher air. Thin fabric curtains filter the western sun while keeping rooms bright.
