Origin: A recent interiors trend mixing rural farmhouse warmth with the metal and brick of industrial style.
Industrial farmhouse is the name of a trend that blends two styles: the rustic, cosy feel of a farmhouse with the raw strength of a factory. A thick timber table sits beside black steel frames, metal lamps hang from the ceiling, and walls show brick or brick-effect cladding. Colours lean to white, black and timber brown, so the whole is sturdy yet liveable, less cold than pure industrial.
In Vietnam it suits open kitchens and dining rooms, cafés and townhouses. Use reclaimed or jointed timber, powder-coated steel that resists rust, and rough tile in place of old brick. In humid coastal regions humid weather makes bare iron rust easily, so choose powder-coated steel rather than raw metal and keep rooms well ventilated.
