Origin: Linked to the lavish look of 20th-century Hollywood cinema, later refreshed in modern interiors.
Glam evokes Hollywood cinema opulence: glossy surfaces, mirrors, gold or chrome plated metal, velvet, marble and chandeliers. The palette is usually a light or deep neutral accented with metal and a single jewel or pink tone. The aim is allure, drama and a sense of occasion on entering.
In Vietnam real marble is costly, so use sintered stone, engineered stone or large-format marble-look tiles. PVD-plated metal lasts longer than standard plating in humid weather. Mirrors and glossy surfaces show moisture marks and fingerprints, so clean often, and avoid too much shiny metal in west-facing rooms to prevent glare. Velvet pairs well with air conditioning and dehumidifying.
