Metallic finishes, gold, bronze, silver, chrome

Shine takes centre stage: reflected light makes a room sparkle and deepen.

Origin: Seen across eras that loved shine, from Art Deco to contemporary design

The metallic look uses shimmering surfaces such as gold, copper, brass, silver and chrome as accents. Metal reflects light, adds depth, and feels modern and rich when used in the right amount.

In Vietnam, treat metallics as jewellery for the home rather than covering everything: table legs, handles, mirror frames, lamps and trims. Choose PVD-coated stainless steel, aluminium or quality metallic paint, since high humidity tarnishes or rusts ordinary metal. Pair with neutral backgrounds and matte materials such as fabric and timber so the shine never feels glaring, particularly where western sun enters.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing too many metal tones in one room

Care & northern Vietnam climate

Choose PVD plating or powder coating so colour lasts in humid conditions, and wipe surfaces dry after damp weather to prevent marks. Avoid placing mirrors and polished metal opposite west-facing openings to limit glare.
