Origin: Flourishing since the 2000s with luxury hotels, branded residences and high-end villas

Modern luxury is the high end of modern design, growing since the 2000s alongside five-star hotels, branded residences and premium villas. The layout stays clean and linear; the luxury comes from book-matched marble, walnut, leather, PVD-plated bronze or champagne metal, smoked glass and carefully designed lighting. In Vietnam it suits villas, penthouses and upscale townhouses for owners who entertain often. The key is few materials of high quality, often with smart lighting scenes, a wine cabinet and a media room.

Common mistakes

  • Too many stones and metal tones at once, which looks showy
  • Cheap printed faux-stone panels that defeat the purpose
  • High gloss everywhere, causing glare and constant cleaning
  • Neglecting lighting, so expensive materials are never shown off

Care & northern Vietnam climate

Marble etches with acids and stains with moisture, so seal it and avoid it on heavy-use cooking counters; PVD plating outlasts ordinary plating, especially in salty coastal air. In the humid season keep windows shut and dehumidify to protect leather and veneer.
