Origin: Rooted in small rural English houses tied to a garden and a modest way of life.
Cottage recalls a small English country house with a flower garden, little windows, low ceilings and mismatched furniture. Floral prints, stripes, cotton textiles, matt-painted wood and gradually collected pieces create an intimate, cosy mood. Colours are soft, with pastels and creamy whites.
In Vietnam it suits small garden houses and townhouses with a yard or balcony. Use pastel-painted engineered wood, moisture-resistant floral wallpaper or painted motifs, washable cotton and encaustic-style tiles. Because humidity makes fabrics and rugs prone to mould, choose breathable, easy-wash textiles and avoid heavy upholstery in rooms with little sun.
