Origin: Rooted in ancient Greek and Roman architecture and revived from the European Renaissance
Classicism rests on the principles of ancient Greek and Roman architecture: standard proportions, symmetry and the system of columns. Since the Renaissance, European architects have repeatedly returned to these rules, creating a tradition that lasts to the present.
In Vietnam, scale needs thought. On a villa, a façade with columns, a projecting cornice and symmetrical openings can be impressive; on a narrow townhouse, reduce it to mouldings, capitals and a symmetrical axis in the living room. Natural stone or stone-effect render needs waterproofing and treatment against moss and mould. Mind the proportions of columns, ceilings and doors, as wrong proportions make the result look awkward.
