Origin: United States, first half of the 20th century, closely linked to Frank Lloyd Wright.
Organic architecture is the philosophy Frank Lloyd Wright promoted in the first half of the 20th century in the US: a building should harmonise with people and place, with form following function. Houses spread along the terrain, use local materials such as stone, timber and brick, open many windows to greenery, and blur the line between inside and outside.
In Vietnam this idea suits garden villas, resorts, and houses beside greenery or water. Hai Phong has storms and damp, so natural materials need moisture protection, stone and brick should be low-absorption, and timber needs a protective finish. Keep existing trees, use deep eaves for rain and sun, and orient openings toward cool breezes so the house breathes yet stays safe in storms.
