Origin: A way of designing inspired by modern art galleries, applied to homes.
Gallery style draws on the art gallery: white or pale grey walls, neutral floors, track spotlights and very little furniture. Everything serves the viewing of works. In a home, it differs from an ordinary house in that the space is not filled with daily clutter; seating is compact, built-in cupboards hide belongings, and key walls stay empty for hanging paintings or sculpture.
In Vietnam, start with the living room or a corridor. Choose moisture-resistant white paint because humid spells stain walls, fit adjustable, glare-controlled track spotlights, and keep strong western sun off artworks because it fades colour. Paint, lighting and built-in storage are the main investment, while the works themselves can be added gradually.
